Robert
Updated October 12

My owners were taking me to the Richland County Animal Shelter in the back of their pick-up truck when I fell out. I guess they did not want to get a citation for littering because they did stop and pick me up and put me back in the truck. They proceeded to take me to the animal shelter where I laid in pain for several days till HHGDR was contacted. I have at least one broken leg and many open wounds. Within hours I was transported to the rescue. Since I arrived late at night I was given a soft bed to sleep on and tomorrow I will go to the vet and hopefully they can fix my leg.

Update July 23: Robert will have surgery at 1 PM today to set his broken leg, and to suture his open wounds. He is already running a high temperature due to the infection setting in the open wounds. His surgery is expected to cost over $1000.
Update July 25: My surgery went well and I am resting at the rescue, luckily I only had 1 broken leg. They were unable to close up my wounds because of the infection. My leg now has a pin in it which will be removed when my leg has healed. Click here > to see my x-rays. My leg is kept in a splint as an added precaution and the bandage must be changed daily. Grandma is very gentle with me so not to hurt me when she changes the bandage, cleans my open wounds and applies medicine to them. She even made me a special bed so I would be comfortable. Since I was an outside dog before coming here I think I have died and went to heaven!!!
Update July 27: Just thought you would like to see a picture since the surgery.
Update August 10: My leg and wounds continue to heal and I am enjoying laying around and being pampered! Ya know a guy could really get used to being pampered!!! I will be going to the vet this week for a check up and will let you know what he has to say!!!
Update August 14: I went to the vet and it was not great news but I guess not horrible news either. My body is rejecting the pin and it will need to be removed sooner then the vet wanted. They have set my surgery for next Thursday the 21st to remove the pin. The vet said my bone was healing nicely and he wanted the pin in at least 1 more week so I am now on even more medication to keep the pin in for the next week. The vet and the rescue are doing everything possible to keep me from losing my leg.

Update August 25: Sorry for the slow update, I was unable to use the computer for a few days. The pin was removed and my leg is healing great! If all continues well I will go back in 4 weeks to have my leg x-rayed again and should be ready for adoption then!!

Update September 7: Grandma got worried so she made me go get my leg x-rayed but good news it is healing as it should be!! Only a few more weeks to go!!!!

Update September 30: Well I have been given a clean bill of health!! I no longer wear the splint and am NOW ready for adoption!! I had my leg x-rayed again and it is healed!! Grandma promises to take new pics of me real soon so you can see how handsome and healthy I have become!! I am a real lover boy!!

Update October 12: Finally I got Grandma to take my new picture!!

Please can you spare a few dollars to help the Rescue continue to help me and other Danes like me it would be greatly  appreciated. Without the rescue I would have been euthanized, after laying in agonizing pain for 3 days!!  Please help the rescue to pay my vet bills!
Thanks, Robert
