Know Your Dog: An Owner's Guide to Dog Behavior by Bruce Fogel, published by Houghton Mifflin, 1992. This book helps you to read your dog's body language. Goes beyond tail-wagging.

Dr. Dunbar's Good Little Dog Book by Ian Dunbar, published by James & Kenneth, 1992. A training manual. Dr. Dunbar has also authored a set of nine training booklets from the 1980s. Look for those for problem solving.

How to be Your Dog's Best Friend by the Monks of New Skete, published by Little Brown, 1978. This is a very good training book for men.

Mother Knows Best: The Natural Way to Train your Dog by Carol Lea Benjamin, published by Howell, 1985. A good training book for women.
